His academic and research interests focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of community-based nutrition and lifestyle interventions, with an emphasis on children, adolescents, and adults, delivered in school settings and primary health care structures. His work is grounded in the study of behavioural, social, and environmental determinants of dietary behaviour and health, aiming to support the prevention of obesity and chronic non-communicable diseases at the population level. Particular emphasis is placed on the development and delivery of individual- and group-based interventions, implemented both face-to-face and through digital health approaches (including digital nutrition and mHealth), as well as on the evaluation of their effectiveness, acceptability, and sustainability in real-world community settings. In parallel, he conducts community-implemented clinical interventions involving functional foods and dietary supplements, within prevention programmes targeting metabolic, cardiovascular, bone, and mental health conditions.
