Dedoussis Georgios

Professor - Molecular genetics-Nutrigenetics

Expert

Georgios Dedoussis has worked as a researcher on a Fulbright scholarship at the Medical Faculty of the ‘Harvard University’ (Boston, USA). In 2018 he received “The Gutenberg Chair” from the Region Grand Est, Euro metropole de Strasbourg. He has published more than 300 papers and his research work has been recognized by others (number of citations > 55000, h-index: 85). He was nominated in 2019 among the most cited scientists worldwide during the last decade.

Education

  • PhD Thesis. “Phenotypic and functional characterization of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in breast cancer”. Medical School of Athens, 1995.
  • D.E.A of Biotechnology, Microbiology et Bioconversion, University of Compiegne, France. Title of research project: “Production of human monoclonal antibodies against tumor antigens in breast cancer”, Compiegne, France, 1990
  • Bachelor of Biology, University of Patras, 1988

Research Interests

  • I have coordinated many national and European grants in the field of the molecular genetics/nutrigenetics of obesity, lipid levels, myocardial infraction and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD).
  • My group has a strong expertise on Genome Wide Association analysis, by applying bioinformatic tools for the identification of genetic variants associated with chronic diseases.
  • We are exploring lifestyle and genetic predictors for assessing personalized recommendations.
  • We are also testing the impact of natural compounds on NAFLD patients and I was the coordinator of a Marie Curie RISE European grant (www.MAST4HEALTH.eu)
