Clinical nutrition is the discipline that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and management of nutritional and metabolic changes related to acute and chronic diseases and conditions caused by a lack or excess of energy and nutrients. Clinical Nutrition includes the nutrition care process, namely the nutritional assessment, nutrition diagnosis and the planning of nutrition interventions for people suffering from diseases, the outcome of which can be substantially affected by nutrition. Under this perspective her research interests focus on a) the contribution of dietary and lifestyle patterns in the prevention and treatment of chronic non communicable diseases, b) the involvement of adipokines and inflammatory markers in the in physiological and pathophysiological pathways and their intercorrelations with dietary factors and c) disease related malnutrition.
