Clinical nutrition is the discipline that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and management of nutritional and metabolic changes related to acute and chronic diseases and conditions caused by a lack or excess of energy and nutrients. Clinical Nutrition includes the nutrition care process, namely the nutritional assessment, nutrition diagnosis and the planning of nutrition interventions for people suffering from diseases, the outcome of which can be substantially affected by nutrition. Under this perspective her research interests focus on a) the contribution of dietary and lifestyle patterns in the prevention and treatment of chronic non communicable diseases, b) the involvement of adipokines and inflammatory markers in the in physiological and pathophysiological pathways and their intercorrelations with dietary factors and c) disease related malnutrition.

Education

  • PhD in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics. Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Harokopio University, 2004.
  • BsC in Nutrition and Dietetics. Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Harokopio University, 1998.

  • Exploring the involvement of adipokines and inflammatory markers in physiologic and pathophysiologic pathways, and their intercorrelations with dietary factors.
  • Implementation of nutrition risk screening and nutritional assessment methods aiming at a prompt and reliable diagnosis of disease related malnutrition and sarcopenia.
