Aikaterini Skenderi is a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Department since November 2000 and teaches “Nutrition and Metabolism of Macro and Micro Nutrients” and “Energy Regulation and Metabolism Disorders” at undergraduate level. She also consistently participates as a guest lecturer in postgraduate courses such as “Special Topics in Nutritional Metabolism”, “Ergobiochemistry and Metabolism” and “Sports Nutrition”.

Research Interests

  • Lipid metabolism in pathological and non-pathological conditions such as starvation, exercise and disease.
  • Study of lipoproteins in metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, obesity, vascular dysfunction
  • Study of biomarkers and molecules of human metabolism related to health problems such as cardiovascular diseases.
  • Study of oxidative stress and antioxidant capacity in pathological and non-pathological situations (exercise, obesity, disease)
