Learning Outcomes

The learning outcomes of this course is to provide the knowledge to the students to understand the structure of eukaryotic cells, to know the functions of each sub-cellular component, to experiment with the basic techniques of microscopy, to observe and interpret the findings. Moreover, the students learn that we all depend on the process of photosythesis, by means of which the energy that builts our body is captured from sunlight. One of the main outcome of this process has been the production of an atmosphere rich in oxygen, setting the stage for the evolution of life including human beings. Studying the cell cycle they understand how they divide and pass the genetic material to their descendants. They learn that all living organisms grow and reproduce and that the secret of life is a code of a sequence of bases written on our DNA.
