Learning Outcomes

The objective of the course is the understanding of the structure of matter and its disciplines. On this basis selected topics of general, as well as, analytical, inorganic, and physical chemistry are discussed. Laboratory practice is intended to conjoin theory with the respective experiments, to improve students’ laboratory skills, and to familiarize students with the basic laboratory practices applied in chemistry and food chemistry.

On successful completion of the module the student will be able to:

    • understand the fundamental principles of matter
    • describe, interpret and evaluate molecular structures and molecular interactions
    • describe and interpret chemical reactions in inorganic matter
    • calculate and evaluate parameters related to chemical reactions and physical phenomena
    • know and use the fundamental laboratory techniques in chemistry.

General Abilities

  • Data and information searching, analysis and synthesis, with the support of proper technologies
  • Autonomous work
  • Team work
  • Work in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Practice critical judgment
