Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

recognize, categorize and classify organic compounds

  • understand the three-dimensional structure of molecules and to recognize their different three dimension arrangements
  • understand the concept of aromaticity
  • learn the basic physicochemical properties of the main classes of organic compounds which will permit  them to interpret the structure and function of biomolecules in subsequent semesters
  • predict and compare basic physicochemical properties of organic compounds based on their structure

According to the above the students will:

  • acquire a set of specialized knowledge about the main categories of organic compounds found in the human organism and foods, which will help them better understand the interaction of nutrients, foods and drugs and the biochemical reactions of the human organism.
  • Develop autonomously its knowledge and skills at a higher level.

General Abilities

  • Work autonomously
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
